Chainsaw chains al Widia MAYA®
What is WIDIA?
Widia, also known as cemented carbide or hard metal, derives from the registered trademark of Krupp which in 1926 invented this material and called it Wie Diamant, or “like diamond”.
It is a material used in mechanical production consisting of hard particles of tungsten carbide embedded in a metal matrix (almost always cobalt) and produced by sintering.
Hard metal is used to make tools for chip removal such as turning, milling or drilling, or for any other process where a material of high hardness is required.
Hard metal tools (HM) are harder than those in high speed steel or super high speed steel (HSS) and withstand much higher cutting temperatures (1000 ° compared to 600 °) and therefore allow significantly higher machining speeds . A possible disadvantage of hard metal could be the lower toughness compared to steel.
The chains for chainsaws with cutting tooth with Widia plate have been specially developed for a longer cutting life than conventional chains.
Widia chains remain sharp for longer, their duration can be up to seven times longer than conventional chains. Used in abrasive conditions, conventional chains lose their effectiveness and require continuous sharpening, the Widia chain is able to cut wood soiled with sand or earth, burned, with roots, hard and frozen.
Types of chainsaw chains to Widia MAYA®
The Widia chains for MAYA chainsaws are available in two qualities: STD and PRO
The MAYA STD chain is ideal for domestic chainsaws for dirty wood:
-
3/8 "LP - .325" - 3/8 "- 404" pitch, thickness from 1,3 - 1,5 - 1,6 mm
-
The cutting teeth are equipped with a small Widia coating, for a greater sharpening resistance, especially on dirty wood
-
Due to its smaller size, the Widia STD plate is less resistant than the Widia Pro model
-
The chainsaw is always used with the highest number of revolutions
-
Recommended for a wide range of chainsaws

The MAYA PRO chain is ideal for professional use chainsaws for dirty wood:
-
3/8 "LP - .325" pitch, 1,3 - 1,5 - 1,6 mm thick
-
The cutting teeth are equipped with a Widia coating, for a greater sharpening resistance, especially on dirty wood
-
The plate incorporated in the Widia Pro chain, due to its larger size, is superior and much more resistant than the Widia STD model
-
Chains stay sharp up to 7 times longer than traditional chains
-
The chainsaw is always used with the highest number of revolutions
-
Recommended for a wide range of chainsaws
